Job description

Responsibilities:
  • Lead day-to-day operations, safety, and compliance in synthetic molecule laboratories at the Foundry.
  • Ensure labs are operationally ready for process development, technology transfer, scale-up, characterization, troubleshooting, and manufacturing campaign support.
  • Manage daily laboratory administrative operations; maintain safe, efficient, compliant execution.
  • Drive readiness for new programs, equipment/utility installations, and facility expansions; coordinate vendors/contractors and maintain inventory.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for laboratory operational issues/escalations.
  • Champion safety culture; ensure activities meet applicable quality standards; maintain inspection readiness and support audits.
  • Apply 5S and ALCOA principles to keep labs organized, compliant, and inspection-ready.
  • Oversee equipment lifecycle (installation, qualification, calibration, maintenance, retirement); partner with Engineering/Equipment Support.
  • Manage inventory/consumables/solvents/reagents/reference standards/critical materials; sustain asset management and equipment registry systems.
  • Lead continuous improvement (productivity, reliability, digitalization, data-driven decisions) and cross-functional collaboration.
Basic Qualifications:
  • BS in chemistry or biology (or related).
  • 5+ yearsโ€™ experience in regulated pharmaceutical/chemical/biotech/process development labs.
  • Demonstrated experience managing lab operations in a regulated environment.
  • Ability to work in a lab (safe chemical handling, PPE).
  • Work authorization in the U.S. on a fullโ€‘time basis; Lilly does not sponsor visas/work authorization.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technology transfer and scale-up experience for synthetic molecules.
  • Knowledge of GMP/GLP, process safety, and lab compliance.
  • Digital lab systems experience (ELN, MES, LIMS, equipment platforms).
  • Project management and crossโ€‘functional leadership.
