Job Summary

Performs technical and clerical functions in one or more sections of the laboratory.
 
Job Responsibilities
  • Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing, and transporting specimens.
  • Maintains equipment and adequate stock of supplies. Orders supplies as needed.
  • Confirms eligibility, verifies insurance benefits, referrals, and authorization for identified patient registrations.
  • Communicates test results to appropriate healthcare providers.
  • Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic, and organized manner.
  • Performs clerical duties including supply distribution, answering phones, data entry, and filing.
  • May perform venipuncture on patients of all age groups and other specimen collection consistently using proper therapeutic skills and according to procedures.
  • May assist in delivery of physicians' reports via phone and electronic distribution in a timely manner.
  • May perform waived Laboratory testing on-site and reports results according to government standards.
