Overview

Responsible for receiving and processing specimens. Accession specimens in laboratory information system. Handle incoming phone calls and assisting with general lab supply management. Work in conjunction with Medical Laboratory Scientists.

Demonstrate knowledge of department and hospital policies and procedures and their execution Handle telephone inquiries, transfer as needed. Receive, accession and process specimens in order to ensure timely reporting of results. Ensures positive patient identification Perform registration in HIS as needed Process reference lab testing as needed Independently troubleshoot specimen-related problems Assist with inventory and supply management, including supplies to others hospitals and/or customers. Perform testing as needed Train new employees or students Participate in at least one hospital or lab committee Assist with schedule as needed Maintain hardware and equipment as needed Uses computer programs in laboratory and hospital based systems to ensure accurate data entry and retrieval. Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications
EDUCATION
HS Diploma or equivalency exam MLA Certification required
EXPERIENCE
2+ Years.
LICENSURE
MLA Certification (when applicable)
