Job description

Medical Assistant

OneHealth Primary Care is currently looking for a Medical Assistant with a positive attitude, for our Clearwater, Largo, and Palm Harbor. The right individual must have at least 3-5 years experience in a busy medical office setting, preferably managed care experience. This position requires someone who believes in a team work environment so that everyone is working together to meet the needs of the patient as well as the providers.

Essential Functions:
  • Proficient in Phlebotomy
  • Understand the equipment used in an office lab, such as centrifuse, logging refrigerator and freezer temperatures.
  • Maintain medical supply inventory
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of lab
  • Assist with managing patient flow and appointment schedules
  • Prepare and stock exam rooms, clean and sanitize between patients and at end of the day
  • Understands, and can assist with new patient paperwork
  • Be self directing and the ability to think quickly
  • Organized with ability to multitask
  • Rooming patients to include vital signs, weights, medication review, etc.
  • Medication refills when directed by physician
  • Proper documentation and updating of medical records
  • Assist with medical procedure such as joint injections, ear lavages, basic dermatological procedures, suturing, splinting, and other office procedures.
  • Calling patients with lab results or test results under the direction of the provider.
  • Obtain appropriate consents for procedures
  • Ability to triage calls and patient concerns
  • Maintain HIPAA guidelines, OSHA, Biomedical Waste
  • Familiar with the use Electronic Medical Records
  • Work in a team atmosphere, communicating professionally and directly with all staff including multiple providers
