Job description

Maintain networks and computers used in hands-on School of Information Technology programs instructional labs (i.e. installation, rack configuration, imaging hard drives, network wiring, upgrades, and troubleshooting). Assisting all School of Computing and Informatics instructors with any of the computer lab preparations.
Effectively control inventory of all hardware and software for the networking labs. Hardware may consist of computer equipment and peripherals, networking equipment and cabling supplies. Software may consist of operating systems, device drivers, licensing, etc.
Provide open lab hours for students to work on assignments outside of scheduled class times.
Maintain logbook to track student usage of the open network lab and produce usage reports on this information.
Work within tight time constraints.
  • Basic lab organization and cleanliness
  • Assisting faculty in the development of new material for their courses
  • Set up and lead a laboratory
  • Monitor all labs, keep clean and tidy and remove any screen locks.
  • Provide the supplies needed for each lab including paper, cleaning spray, paper towels and whiteboard markers.
  • Perform independent research
  • Tutor students
  • Ensure compliance with department policies regarding computer usage
  • Monitor department systems and respond to issues.
