Job Description:
Job Summary: We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Lab Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC, mechanical systems, electrical controls, and thermodynamics. The HVAC lab technician is responsible for setting up, maintaining classrooms, labs, and equipment to support the instructors before, during, and after training sessions. They assist with prototype development, equipment maintenance, and data analysis to support the Technical Academy classes.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supports instructors in various tasks such as research and development, testing, and maintenance of labs and classroom materials.
  • Assists in conducting hands-on training sessions and practical demonstrations using industry-standard equipment and tools.
  • Prepares and maintains training materials, equipment, and tools.
  • Demonstrates the ability to locate parts, diagrams, and drawings independently within the AAON database.
  • Maintain the operation and cleanliness of the lab, classrooms, fab shop etc. to ensure proper operation.
  • May be asked to assist in the maintenance of the facility HVAC equipment and other systems.
  • Operates and maintains a variety of technical equipment and instruments used in training sessions, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots technical issues that arise during testing or operation, proposing and implementing solutions to ensure project continuity
  • Ensures compliance with quality standards, regulations, and procedures throughout the training process to meet project objectives and industry requirements.
  • Collaborates closely with instructors, engineers, technicians, and other team members to achieve project goals and deadlines, contributing to a productive and cohesive work environment.
  • Ensures all training activities comply with safety regulations and standards.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Associate's degree in HVAC, or equivalent, from a technical school, EPA 608 and A2L license/certification, or a minimum of [5] years + of hands-on experience in HVAC, mechanical systems, electrical controls, and thermodynamics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proven experience in teaching or training in a technical field.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical systems, electrical controls, and thermodynamics.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts and make them understandable to students.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with industry advancements.

Work Environment:
  • Candidates must be able to assist in presenting materials in a classroom or lab setting, adhering to all classroom edict, as well as AAON policies.
  • Standing for long periods of time.
  • Travel to other facilities and off-site locations as needed.
