Laboratory Assistant Manager 5800 Industrial Ave, Loves Park, IL 61111 IL180 Manufacturing Facility Full-time Shift(s): MON TUE WED THU FRI 7:00am - 5:00pm OVERVIEW: Working as an Assistant Laboratory Manager, you will assist the Lab Manager in developing policies and procedures around our inspection plans, quality system and general lab operations. You will provide training and input to our Laboratory Technicians while overseeing their day-to-day operations. Based on required workload, you will use various tools and equipment types to test sample parts for performance, dimensional, mechanical and chemical attributes to determine if they are acceptable to established standards or customer requirements. RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: o Assisting in developing and implementing policies and procedures in an ISO 17025 Accredited Laboratory o Developing, implementing, and training lab technicians in testing proficiency and best practices o Recruiting and supervising staff o Managing daily operations o Identifying and troubleshooting technical issues within the lab o Understanding and adhering to laboratory safety protocols o Testing product in an A2LA Accredited Laboratory o Collecting and analyzing test data, and data entry o Communicating project status and results o Creating documentation, such as inspection instructions, reports on test results and certifications REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: The following skills and qualifications are required for this position: o 18 years of age or older, due to the nature of work o Excellent written and oral communication skills o Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite o Demonstrate strong math aptitude, attention to detail and sense of urgency o Highly motivated, self directed and customer service oriented o Demonstrate strong organization, planning, and prioritizing abilities o Work independently as well as in a team environment o Possess 2 years of experience working in a testing laboratory o Demonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity, and teamwork o Willingness to stand for long periods of time o Lift, slide, carry and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs and may weigh up to 75lbs o Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY) PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: o Possess or working towards an associate's degree in a related technical field o Prior experience using basic measuring equipment and inspection tools o Possess an understanding of basic geometry ABOUT US: Since 1967 Fastenal has grown as a distributor of industrial and construction supplies from a single branch to a Fortune 500 company with over 3,000 servicing locations, each providing tailored local inventory and personal service for our customers.
