Job description

Coordinates scheduling of Cardiac Cath Lab and Electrophysiology (EP) procedures with referring physician office staff, transferring hospitals, and in-patient requests. Assists with coordinating other required outside resources for procedures including, but not limited to, Anesthesia, Echocardiology, and device representatives. Works with Director and department staff to help resolve patient charging and billing issues.
Coordinates and supports various cardiology service line programs, serving as a liaison between physicians, nursing staff, administration, and external partners to ensure efficient workflow and continuity of care. Completes and maintains required cardiology registry data, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulatory and quality reporting standards. Assists with data collection, abstraction, and submission for national and internal registries to support quality improvement initiatives and program performance tracking.
Program Coordination & Registry Responsibilities
Coordinates various cardiology programs and initiatives, facilitating communication between multidisciplinary teams, referring providers, and administrative leadership.
  • Acts as a liaison to support operational efficiency, scheduling, and program workflow across cardiology services.
  • Completes required cardiology registry work, including data abstraction, entry, validation, and submission in accordance with registry, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
  • Supports quality improvement efforts by assisting with data reporting, audits, and performance metrics related to cardiology programs.
  • Serves as a liaison for multiple cardiology programs, collaborating with physicians, nursing, administration, and external stakeholders to support program operations and patient care coordination.
  • Responsible for completion and maintenance of cardiology registry submissions, ensuring data accuracy, compliance, and adherence to reporting deadlines.
  • Assists in monitoring outcomes, quality metrics, and program performance through registry and internal reporting tools.

Essential Job Functions
  • Coordinates scheduling of cardiac catheterization and EP lab procedures with referring physician office staff and transferring hospitals. Ensures add-ons and other special requirements are communicated to the Cath lab supervisor or designee. Assists with coordinating other required outside resources for procedures including, but not limited to, Anesthesia, Echocardiology, and device representatives.
  • Enters all Cath lab and EP charges into the Hospital EMR (MEDITECH), according to procedure charge sheets. Reconciles billing/coding issues with department staff. Assists Image Holding staff with pre-and-post procedure care. Performs EKG's, clipper preps, and sheath removals when indicated.
  • Coordinates purchase orders for device implants with vendors and Materials Management.
  • Performs administrative tasks, including but not limited to, ordering supplies, copying, faxing, entering work orders as indicated.
  • Coordinates scheduling for Cardiac Cath and Electrophysiology procedures with referring offices, transferring facilities, and inpatient teams, including coordination of required ancillary services such as Anesthesia, Echocardiology, and device representatives.
  • Serves as a liaison across cardiology service line programs, supporting communication and workflow among physicians, nursing, administration, and external partners to ensure operational efficiency and continuity of care.
  • Completes, validates, and submits required cardiology registry data in accordance with regulatory, registry, and organizational standards, supporting quality reporting and performance monitoring.
  • Assists with data reporting, audits, outcomes tracking, and quality improvement initiatives through registry and internal reporting tools.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support cardiology services, departmental operations, quality initiatives, and patient care coordination.

Required Qualifications/Experience:
  • High School Diploma, GED or higher level of education.
  • Completion of EKG training within 6 months of hire/transfer. Responsible to safely access, transport, and handle single dose medications to include prescription and non-prescription medications. Responsible to safely access, transport, and handle sharps, such as needles, suture kits, lancets, syringes, etc.
  • Prior healthcare employment that involved medical terminology.
  • Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or Cardiology Technology Program.
  • One year experience in a related health care field.
  • Experience in Healthcare setting.

License, Certification & Clearances (please add any additional requirements)
  • Healthcare Provider CPR
  • Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
  • Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
