Job description

Nashua Community College is seeking qualified individuals who are interested in adjunct teaching at the College on a course-by-course basis; strong academic background is required. Adjunct appointments are temporary, for a specified contract period, and may require in classroom or online instruction as indicated.

We have a need for instructors for the following course(s) in our Precision Manufacturing Department: :

MTTN231-Advanced Machine Tool Processes and Theory I-Fall 2026

The student will increase proficiency and knowledge in the following areas with stress on accuracy and speed: Milling machines, surface grinding, machining with conversationally programmed CNC machines, electrical discharge machining, digital readout units and CNC milling and turning (programming & operation). A student must earn a grade of 'C' or better to achieve a passing grade in this course.

MTTN118 -Machining Technology-Spring 2027

This course is designed to teach the student the basic operation of the engine lathe and the manual vertical milling machine and the processes associated with them. The course will include the study of lab safety, measuring tools, as well as the fundamentals of reading and interpreting a blueprint to produce a close tolerance part. This course runs Monday (lecture) 1pm-2:50pm and Fri (lab) 1pm-3:50pm.

MTTN122N -Machine Tool Processes and Theory II-Spring 2027

This course is a continuation of MTTN111N with an emphasis on advanced lathe and mill operations on more complex parts and assemblies. Conversational programming on CNC machines is introduced on both lathe and mill. Basic Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing is taught as part of expanding the understanding and interpretation of modern blueprints. Projects will include assemblies of milled and turned parts as well as heat treated and surface ground parts. Instruction will be given in proper wheel selection and grinding techniques. Students will complete several individual projects that utilize all these machining methods. Mechanical concepts such as gears, simple machines, and machine components will be discussed. A student must earn a grade of 'C' or better to achieve a passing grade in this course. This course runs Monday and Weds. evenings from 5:30pm -10:30pm.

MTTN232-Advanced Machine Tool Processes and Theory II-Spring 2027

This course will emphasize the application of CAD/CAM in the manufacturing of a quantity of machined parts. Students will utilize CAM software, conversational programming and manual programming skills. Live tooling and fourth axis work will be covered as it relates to the CNC lathe and mill. In addition, students will participate in a service learning project as well as individual projects and/or group projects. Students will also be taught various job hunting techniques such as resume writing and interviewing skills to assist them in their job search. This course runs Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30pm -9:30pm.

Minimum qualifications: The candidate will have an Associates degree or Bachelors degree in a related field and/or fifteen years experience in machine tool technology. Must have knowledge of MasterCam. Must be able to work two evenings per week. The salary range for this position is $825-$975 per contact hour. The rate will be determined by the appointed adjunct faculty rank, which is based on education and industry and/or teaching experience.
