Job description

The Phlebotomist 2 is responsible for collecting and processing blood specimens in accordance with hospital and laboratory policies, as well as all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role ensures accurate labeling, documentation, and timely routing of specimens to the correct laboratory to maintain order accuracy and workflow efficiency. Under the direction of the Phlebotomist Lead, the Phlebotomist II supports efficient lab operations by maintaining inventory, removing expired supplies, and promoting patient safety and engagement. The phlebotomist explains procedures to patients, responds to clinical inquiries, and assists with patient outreach as needed. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to recognize and report changes in patient condition. The Phlebotomist 2 is also knowledgeable in point-of-care (POC) equipment and may perform EKGs as requested to support comprehensive patient care.
