Job description
Purpose
Manage transgenic mouse strains independently. Conduct experiments, support for research projects and lab operation.
Primary Functions
Manage transgenic mouse lines, including genotyping and characterize mouse strains. Plan and timely perform experiments as scheduled, including animal behavioral studies, metabolic assays, tissue/sample collection, etc.
Conduct experiments under the supervision or independently, such as tissue/cell cultures, fluorescence imaging studies, and PCRs, etc.
Conduct routine lab duties, such as monitoring compliance, ordering supply, and record keeping, protocol implementation.
Assist with team members and the principal investigator on experiments and research projects. Participate in lab meetings and research collaborations.
Keep experimental and research records.
Knowledge - Skills - Abilities
Ability of properly managing transgenic mouse lines after training is important.
Basic knowledge of cell biology/neuroscience/biochemistry. Complex problem solving, critical thinking, time management, and communication/writing skills. Rodent/mouse handling skills are preferred.
Qualifications
Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.
Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's degree
Minimum Required Experience: No experience required
Preferred Experience:Ability of properly PCR genotyping and managing transgenic mouse lines after training is important
Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
