Laboratory Technician A

AGAT Laboratories is currently looking for an Laboratory Technician to join our Trace Organics lab working out of our Calgary location. The successful candidate will be given direction from the Laboratory Supervisor and assist with administrative and basic laboratory activities. Please note, for this position - weekend availability will be a requirement.
 

What you will be doing:

  • Perform basic laboratory procedures including preparation of samples, reagents and calibration solutions.
  • Provide general lab support including washing glassware, cleaning work stations and waste disposal.
  • Calibrate, operate, maintain and troubleshoot instruments.
  • Compile, verify and validate accurate data records.
  • Meet quality assurance and turn around specifications.
  • Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Report results.
  • Perform basic analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
     

What you bring to the table:

  • Post-secondary education with a degree or diploma in Science.
  • 2+ years’ laboratory experience and basic laboratory skills, along with familiarity with lab processes.
  • Experience using GC-MS or GC-FID Instrumentation is an asset.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbally communication.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a positive manner in a fast paced environment.
     

Work Environment:

This position requires a person to stand, sit and lift throughout the shift in a laboratory environment. Manual dexterity is required to perform repetitive tasks. PPE is required where applicable.
