Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable, skilled, and motivated Construction Trades Teaching Assistant to help guide high school Juniors and Seniors as they build foundational skills in the skilled trades.
This role balances classroom and lab instruction with real-world, on-site experience. You will work alongside our Lead Instructor to supervise students through hands-on labs, job site projects, and classroom instruction. If you're passionate about passing on trade skills and mentoring the next generation of builders, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
  • Lab & Classroom Support: Assist the Lead Instructor in teaching introductory concepts
  • Trade Instruction: Guide and supervise students through practical, hands-on training
  • Safety Supervision: Enforce strict tool safety, personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols, and job site safety standards in both lab and field environments
  • Attendance and Assessment: Assist the Lead Instructor in maintaining accurate daily attendance records and weekly grade records

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Trade Experience: Background in residential or commercial construction (carpentry, masonry, electrical, plumbing, or general contracting experience strongly preferred)
  • Mentorship Mindset: Strong communication skills and a passion for working with high school students (Juniors and Seniors)
  • Physical Capabilities:
    • Ability to lift and carry heavy building materials (up to 50+ lbs routinely).
    • Comfortable working from ladders, scaffolding, and elevated heights.
    • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions alongside students.
  • Background Check: Must be able to pass a standard background check for working in an educational environment.
