The LA Times Studios is looking for three Producers. One specializing in Social Media, one in Entertainment and one in Sports.

The Producer plays a central role in developing and delivering content across live, streaming, digital, audio, video, podcast, and multimedia programming, with a dedicated focus on an assigned coverage area, program, or production. This position partners closely with talent, editorial teams, production staff, and cross-functional partners to identify compelling stories, develop content, and manage assigned productions from planning and development through production, post-production, publishing, and distribution.

The Producer supports content planning, guest coordination, talent preparation, recording and live production, production scheduling, post-production, and content distribution while contributing to audience growth, content performance, and overall programming success. This position exercises independent judgment within assigned programming and productions regarding content selection, story development, production execution, and delivery while balancing audience engagement, editorial standards, production requirements, and organizational objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, research, evaluate, and develop stories, topics, guests, and content opportunities that align with assigned programming, audience interests, and organizational objectives, while maintaining strong knowledge of the assigned coverage area.
  • Partner with hosts, talent, editorial teams, and other stakeholders to develop content angles, segment structures, scripts, interview questions, talking points, rundowns, briefing materials, and other production content.
  • Own assigned episodes, segments, programs, or productions from development through production, post-production, publishing, and distribution, ensuring content is completed accurately, efficiently, and within established timelines and quality standards.
  • Coordinate production logistics, including guest booking and preparation, talent scheduling, recording sessions, production resources, deadlines, approvals, and other requirements necessary for successful live, recorded, audio, video, podcast, streaming, or multimedia productions.
  • Lead or support live, in-studio, and remote production activities, utilizing applicable production, recording, streaming, playout, content management, and publishing systems while providing real-time editorial and production guidance as needed.
  • Coordinate post-production activities, including editing, revisions, quality-control reviews, approvals, final asset delivery, publishing, and distribution across applicable platforms and channels.
  • Maintain production schedules, content calendars, rundowns, trackers, and workflow documentation for assigned productions; proactively identify production risks, scheduling conflicts, missing assets, and other issues that may impact delivery.
  • Collaborate with editorial, social, digital, audience, branded content, sales, and production teams to support content distribution, promotional assets, new programming initiatives, audience engagement, and continuous improvement of production workflows and content performance.
  • Other duties as assigned

General Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Production, Broadcasting, Digital Media and 3+ years of experience in live production, content production, digital media, broadcast, streaming, editorial, or multimedia environments OR 6+ years of experience in live production, content production, digital media, broadcast, streaming, editorial, or multimedia environments.
  • Experience identifying, curating, and producing content within an assigned coverage area, and evaluating audience behavior and engagement opportunities to surface relevant, timely stories.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound editorial judgment and make decisions under deadline pressure and rapidly changing circumstances.
  • Demonstrated subject-matter knowledge of an assigned coverage area or beat, including its key sources, platforms, audiences, and emerging trends.
  • Familiarity with the content and production workflows, platform best practices, and distribution channels relevant to the assigned coverage area.
  • Experience supporting on-air talent, hosts, interviewers, contributors, or content creators.
  • Strong writing, research, communication, organizational, and content development skills.
  • Experience utilizing production, content management, streaming, playout, broadcast, or digital publishing platforms.
  • Experience collaborating with editorial, production, digital, social, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of audience engagement, content strategy, and digital media best practices.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and live event coverage as business needs require.

Specific Requirements:

Producer, Social Media
  • Experience identifying, curating, and producing content to be distributed to social media platforms and emerging digital trends.
  • Knowledge of YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, Reddit, and other social platforms.
  • Experience evaluating social conversations, viral content, audience behavior, and engagement opportunities.
  • Familiarity with social video workflows, platform best practices, and creator-focused content strategies.
Producer, Entertainment
  • Strong knowledge of entertainment news, film, television, music, celebrity culture, awards, and industry trends.
  • Experience producing entertainment-focused interviews, features, live coverage, or multimedia content.
  • Ability to identify emerging entertainment stories and audience interests.
  • Familiarity with entertainment industry sources, media coverage, and event-based programming.
Producer, Sports
  • Strong knowledge of professional, collegiate, and amateur sports, leagues, athletes, statistics, and industry trends.
  • Experience producing sports programming, live event coverage, interviews, analysis, or feature content.
  • Ability to identify key storylines, sporting events, audience interests, and emerging sports topics.
  • Familiarity with sports media, live event production, and sports content workflows.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience producing live news, sports, entertainment, social-first, or digital programming.
  • Experience supporting live broadcast, streaming, podcast, or multimedia production environments.
  • Familiarity with production tools such as OBS, playout systems, content management systems, or similar production platforms.
  • Experience editing content using Adobe Premiere or comparable editing software.
  • Experience booking guests, coordinating interviews, and managing contributor relationships.
  • Familiarity with audience analytics, content performance reporting, and audience engagement strategies.
  • Knowledge of SEO, social media distribution, and digital content optimization practices.
  • Understanding of live production environments, multi-source content integration, and digital content workflows.

The pay scale the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of the posting is $80,000 to $88,000 and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, experience, training, licenses, certifications, and other business or organizational needs.
