The Opportunity
As the Senior Software Development Manager, you will lead a global, highly skilled function responsible for transforming complex healthcare challenges into cutting-edge instrument software solutions. In this role, you will lead a dedicated chapter of senior discipline leads and govern a large-scale global delivery network driving predictable customer value.
  • Lead Strategic Software Execution: Direct operational execution across backlog elaboration, product ownership, solution leadership, and vendor management for global instrument software programs.
  • Drive Global Governance & Scale: Establish operational standards, capacity planning, and governance frameworks to guide 150+ global delivery resources across multiple release streams.
  • Empower & Develop People: Provide direct line management, mentorship, and career coaching for 10+ senior leads, nurturing a high-performance, collaborative team culture.
  • Innovate Delivery Practices: Scale modern Lean-Agile methodologies, enterprise tools, and emerging AI-driven, automated agentic workflows within regulated software frameworks.
  • Partner Across the Business: Collaborate closely with Product Management and Life Cycle Teams to translate commercial intent into compliant, technical backlogs and robust software architectures.
  • Ensure Quality & Compliance: Maintain systemic quality accountability, adhering to critical healthcare software development standards (e.g., ISO 13485, IEC 62304).

Who You Are
  • You hold a BS/BA degree in Engineering, or a related field
  • You have 10+ years of demonstrated track record being a technical leader within large-scale, globally distributed software delivery teams within regulated industries (e.g., medical devices, healthcare, automotive, or aerospace).
  • You have 4+ years of experience with people leadership
  • You have advanced expertise in Scaled Agile frameworks (SAFe/Lean-Agile), enterprise tooling (Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps), and structuring complex software backlogs.
  • You have a proven ability to coach and develop senior leads while strategically managing software vendor partnerships, SOWs, and blended delivery models.
  • You are familiar with or curious for integrating AI-driven tools, automated agentic workflows, and modern development practices into software delivery.
  • You have strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build alignment and influence across cross-functional matrix teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • You have proven capability to govern large-scale, globally distributed teams (~150+ resources) across multiple concurrent instrument software release streams.
  • You have the ability to manage strategic software vendor relationships, hold external partners accountable to delivery metrics, and optimize blended team models.
  • You have the ability to coach/mentor the next generation of Path Lab Software Technical Leaders
  • You have experience as a SAFe / Lean Agile SME

The expected salary range for this position is based on the primary location of Tucson, AZ. 145,100-269,500 USD Annual Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
