Job description

Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. The mission of Amazon's Leo for Government team is to leverage Leo and provide high speed, low latency, and secure satellite broadband services to United States and allied government customers.
We have an immediate opening for a Technical Program Manager to support the Leo for Government team focusing on U.S. Government customers such as NASA, DoD, and National Security

As a Technical Program Manager, you will work with technical and senior leadership across the program to ensure Leo systems meet the highest engineering standards. In addition to building and maintaining processes of the Leo for Government team, you will be responsible for establishing and tracking milestones and project priorities to maximize development efficiency, identify project critical paths, and ensure supplier/partner products are delivered on time and to Leo specifications. You will work in a collaborative, analytical, and fast-paced environment and must be comfortable interacting with highly technical cross-functional teams.

The candidate must have strong business judgment, dive deep into data, have strong writing skills, and be comfortable leading executive-level reviews.
The best candidates will have deep understanding of aerospace/satellite and systems engineering, as well as DoD/IC cyber and security standards, practices and assessments. Candidates with demonstrated experience in deployed secure satellite telecommunications services will be preferred.
This position will be based in Arlington, VA.

Key job responsibilities
This role is responsible for defining Leo for Government communication systems provisioning, management, and monitoring solutions in support of a wide variety of government customer ground, air, maritime, and space based users utilizing Leo's satellites

This is a unique opportunity to assist in the development of a global broadband communication system. You will work closely with the commercial satellite and consumer terminal teams to organize resources, schedule milestones, and track achievements in the group. In addition, you will be responsible for identifying project dependencies and critical paths in government systems development.

On a day-to-day basis, you will coordinate among teams and subcontractors to surface and solve the critical risks to the programs you are assigned to lead. In this role you will:
Specify and implement service provisioning, management, monitoring, and operations solutions in support of various government customers, each with unique security and cyber concerns. Oversee and monitor implementation, testing, and fielding of those solutions.
Propose and drive adoption of improvements to the Leo program to improve government user utility and satisfaction
Act as the point of contact for Leo for Government with external teams, partners, and subcontractors for assigned solutions, to identify and mitigate programmatic risks in order to meet established goals
Communicate clearly and effectively to executive management on the plans, status, and critical issues in narrative and verbal formats

Escalate urgent issues appropriately and drive them to closure in a timely manner
Document trade studies for intra-team review for stakeholder buy-in
Establish and perform subcontract management and define and assess vendor deliveries
Organize regular project and team meetings, focusing design teams on program milestones and unblock technical issues by pulling together the multi-functional technical expertise to resolve issues
Set agenda, communicate meeting notes and actions, follow up with responsible owners
Develop, track, & communicate project schedules and achievements
Drive project execution, develop project plans, make technical trade-offs, manage risks, track and report on status, and resolve blocking issues
Work closely with partner organizations (including government agencies) to develop work packages and ensure that all teams have what they need to be successful
Establish goals and metrics to identify opportunities to deliver customer solutions to meet cost, performance and schedule requirements.
This position is in Arlington, VA. Some travel, primarily domestic, will be required.
Security Clearance: This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance of TS/SCI.
