Job Summary

Addiction Medicine Physician | Outpatient + Hospital Consults | Teaching Opportunities

Tower Health Medical Group Addiction Medicine is seeking a full-time addiction medicine physician to join an established, physician-led team in Reading, Pennsylvania. Our practice is staffed by board-certified, fellowship-trained addiction medicine physicians, advanced practice providers, and experienced clinical staff who work collaboratively to provide high-quality, evidence-based care in a warm, collegial setting.

This position offers a balanced mix of outpatient office-based addiction medicine and hospital-based detoxification and consultative services at Reading Hospital, a large tertiary/teaching medical center. The position will be approximately 75% outpatient office-based care and 25% hospital rounding/consultative work, though there is some flexibility based on clinical interests, with minimal/shared call responsibilities.

Clinical scope
  • Outpatient detoxification and withdrawal management for alcohol, opioids, and benzodiazepines.
  • Inpatient detoxification and consultative services at Reading Hospital.
  • Evaluation and treatment of problematic use of multiple substances, including, but not limited to, alcohol, prescribed and illicit opioids, kratom/7-OH, benzodiazepines, stimulants, marijuana, nicotine, medetomidine, and other novel substances.
  • Care for adolescents through geriatrics, including medically complex patients and patients with pregnancy, chronic pain overlap, and co-occurring psychiatric and medical illnesses.
  • Depending on clinical interests, utilize off-label medications for selected behavioral addictions such as gambling and sex/pornography.
