Job description

JOB TITLE

Chief Safety Officer 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

   Coordinate Safety TFT meeting (every Friday) coordinate meeting with KPMG
   Facilitate committee meetings, encourage participation from all relevant parties, and guide discussions on safety issues, initiatives, and recommendations. 
   Presentation on safety issues to all leaderships (HMGMA, NA Safety Office, Global COO)
   Presentation to the leadership group on EA weekly call
   Coordinate to solve site EHS issues from affiliates construction sites related to HMGMA
   Safety Compliance on construction site
   Monitoring each onsite organization complies with applicable safety regulations
   Address safety violations with contractors
   Provide high-level reporting of safety status to HMGMA and HMNA leadership.
   Contractor Safety Management during production equipment installations
   Developing and implementing processes to ensure contractors comply with safety requirements
   Evaluating contractor safety programs, provide safety orientation and training and monitor contractor activities to minimize risks associated with their work.
   Develop and implement safety policies and procedures
   Establishing safety goals and objectives, developing safety metrics to measure performance and monitoring progress towards achieving those goals.
   Safety lagging and leading indicator (Near Miss, First Aid and OSHA Recordable/Safety audits, etc.)
   Communication of common issues and guidance regarding countermeasure
   Incident Analysis and Prevention
   Leading through investigations to determine the root causes and contributing factors.
   Analyzing incident reports, interview witnesses, and examine relevant documentation and data to identify the underlying causes.
   Safety Inspections and Audits
   Conduct regular inspections and audits and ensuring that corrective actions are taken to address any identified safety concerns.
   Safety Performance Monitoring
   Establish safety metrics and systems to track and analyze safety-related data
   Operate Safety and Environment Committee with all affiliates
   Regular safety and environmental committee meeting to monitor legal compliance
   EHS legal compliance audit and monitor
   Monitoring each onsite organization complies with applicable safety and environmental regulations.

HMGMA is the abbreviation of Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America. It is Hyundai Motor Group's first dedicated EV mass-production plant and is an innovative plant with cutting-edge production technology applied.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

Minimum:
   Bachelor's degree in Safety Science or related field
   15+ years of job-related experience. 
   Extensive knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, ANSI and EPA regulations and reporting requirements.
   Experience to establish and operate procedures based on ISO14001 
   Proficient in MS Office products.
   Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, problem solving and human relations skills
   Strong organizational and systems implementation.
   Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
   Leadership coaching skills; investigation skills.
Preferred:
   Experience of EHS management for new plant start-up PJT
   Job related experience in Automotive Industry
   Experience with establishing or using environment IT system

Physical Demands
While in Office:
This position is primarily sedentary and requires working at a desk and computer for extended periods. Responsibilities may include:
   Occasional lifting of office supplies (up to 15 pounds)
   Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and handling documents
   Ability to sit, stand, and walk within the office environment as needed
When in Production Area (if applicable):
   Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended durations
   Repeated lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of materials and products (up to 25-30 pounds)
   Manual dexterity for handling power tools, machinery, or production equipment
   Working in environments that may be noisy, hot, or require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
   Ability to climb ladders or stairs and operate equipment safely and effectively
   Capability to learn and work on multiple production processes, as required
   Adequate visual and auditory abilities to identify safety hazards and communicate clearly
   Consistent and punctual attendance
   Ability to collaborate and perform effectively in a team-oriented environment
