Generator Technician

Compensation: $35–$60/hour, depending on experience

generator dealer for the State of Hawaii, we specialize in the service, maintenance, and repair of commercial and residential generator systems across all major brands. Our technicians serve customers throughout the entire state of Hawaii — from Oahu to the neighbor islands —and occasionally travel to Guam and the broader Pacific Rim. We are a growing company looking for experienced, hands-on technicians who are ready to hit the ground running.

$35–$60/hour starting pay

for master technicians with OEM certification

$2,500 sign-on bonus

What You’ll Do

As a

Field Generator Technician

, you will be on the front lines — diagnosing problems, performing repairs, and keeping generators running for customers throughout the state of Hawaii and beyond.

Perform service, maintenance, and repairs on all makes and models of generator sets

Service and repair generators across major brands including Kohler/Rehlko, Caterpillar, Generac, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, John Deere, MTU, and Volvo Penta

Travel throughout the state of Hawaii (all islands) and occasionally to Guam or Pacific Rim locations as needed

Diagnose failures through logical troubleshooting; inspect failed components and determine corrective action

Service and diagnose generator components including alternators, wiring harnesses, safety devices, shutdown switches, battery systems, and engine diagnostics

Conduct inspections, scheduled maintenance visits, load bank testing, startup and commissioning

Complete accurate Field Service Reports, timesheets, and expense reports in a timely manner

Communicate clearly with fellow technicians and office support staff

Maintain a clean, professional work environment on every job site

Requirements

All applicants must have:

Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in generator service, diesel/gas enginerepair, or a closely related mechanical or electrical trade — OR completion of atrade/vocational school program in a relevant field

Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and O&Mmanuals

Valid Hawaii driver’s license with a clean driving record

Comfortable with statewide travel across Hawaii and occasional inter-island or off-island assignments

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, email, file management)

Ability to regularly lift and maneuver up to 40 lbs

Strong written and oral communication skills

Valid U.S. passport or ability to obtain one (for occasional travel to Guam/Pacific Rim)

Generac, Cummins, or other major brands - Familiarity with automatic transfer switches(ATS) and generator control systems

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree, vocational certificate, or military training in diesel mechanics, electrical systems, or power generation is strongly preferred.

Note on Experience:

Candidates with a vocational/trade school certificate or military training in a relevant field may substitute that credential for up to one year of the required experience. Some hands-on experience is required — we are looking for demonstrated competency.
