Reports To: Vice President, Transportation Operations

Direct Reports: 2 Employees

Pay: Salary, FLSA Exempt

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 45 hours per week, based on needs of business

Based in Milwaukee, WI, we operate the largest fresh 48 state LTL consolidation pool with more than 100+ trucks, and offer multiple sites with cooler, and air-conditioned storage, distribution, and cross-docking services.  We operate refrigerated and non-refrigerated warehouses for storage needs but also Value-Added Services such as specialty packing, kitting and fulfillment needs. The Transportation Safety Manager will be responsible for overseeing safety for the Transportation division of Midwest Refrigerated Services – MRT.

General Responsibilities include: 

  • Maintain all driver training and ensure that all operational activities are in compliance with all State and Federal rules & regulations. 
  • Oversee and manage the Accident Investigation process
  • Monitor and manage CSA scores 
  • Monitor, review, and address Hours of Service for each driver to ensure continuous compliance with Federal Regulations.
  • Quarterly Safety Meetings for drivers
  • Conduct driver counseling regarding infractions of rules and procedures
  • Driver training and remedial training – Start training on the SMITH System
  • Coordinate and conduct training and continuous education for drivers
  • Yearly reporting – FMCSA and insurance
  • Regulatory reviews – HOS, CSA Scores
  • Omnitracs – system use and success
  • Equipment Permitting
  • Overall reduction in risk cost to the enterprise 

Skills Required: 

  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of DOT rules and regulations as well as FMCSRs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite

Prerequisites:

  • 4-year degree preferred not required
  • 5 years minimum Safety and regulatory compliance work in Asset based trucking firm
  • 2 years minimum associate Management

Performance Measurements:

  • Accidents per Million miles (Preventable / Non preventable / Recordable / Non-Recordable)
  • Claims costs YOY and frequency
