Job description


The Heavy Duty Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen and back-of-house areas to ensure a safe, efficient, and organized work environment. This role performs deep cleaning of kitchen equipment, floors, drains, hoods, and other food preparation areas while supporting the culinary team by upholding health, safety, and sanitation standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, hardworking, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working collaboratively with the kitchen team
Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and filtering of deep fryers.
  • Deep cleaning of all kitchen cooking equipment including grills, ovens and stove tops.
  • Deep clean freezer floors.
  • Deep cleaning of all kitchen and VIP bar floor mats.
  • Cleaning of all floor drains.
  • Sweep, mop and scrub all back of house floors.
  • Polish all stainless steel walls, hoods and equipment.
  • Must be able to perform various miscellaneous, duties as directed.
  • Provides fast and flawless service to internal customers.
  • Acts as a role model to other employees and always presents oneself as a credit to Harrah's and encourages others to do the same.
  • Adheres to all regulatory, company and department policies and procedures.
  • Completes all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must possess a positive attitude and demonstrate effective teamwork skills.
  • Previous kitchen experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work with cleaning chemicals.
  • Must be punctual, have good work ethics, and be a reliable person with a can-do positive attitude.
  • Must be flexible with schedule to work holidays and weekends.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. and carry objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • Position requires 10% standing, 90% walking.
  • Requires very frequent bending, pushing, twisting, kneeling, climbing, stooping and reaching overhead.
  • Must be able to respond to touch, speech, smell, aural and visual cues.
  • Work involves contact with cleaning solvent and chemicals.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment involving constant internal customer contact.
  • Must be able to work in areas containing secondary smoke.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • $17.00 per hour.

Shift Details:
  • Morning Shift: 4:00 pm - 1:00 am
