General Summary of Job Duties: The Kitchen Cleaner is responsible for the sanitation of all kitchen equipment, cooking utensils, dishware, glassware, and silverware, as well as the cleaning of the kitchen area and removal of trash. Responsibilities include following all safe and sanitary cleaning procedures according to Silverton Casino and Southern Nevada Health District standards.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties:

  •  Responsible for cleaning cookware, dishware, glassware, flatware as well as the cleaning and maintenance of dish machines according to Company standards.
  • Knowledgeable in running a dish machine with temperature checks and chemical use.
  • Must be able to maintain cleanliness of dish washing area.
  • Responsible for light cleaning duties that include floor sweeps, mopping, dish machine cleaning, floor drain, hand wash sinks, wall cleaning.
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen chemicals and maintaining the stocking of them in the kitchen.
  • Must understand and adhere to the safe handling, usage and storage of all chemicals used during the performance of job duties.
  • Must follow proper PPE when dealing with chemicals.
  • Must be able to take out trash from kitchen and maintain cleanliness of trash cans.
  • Identifies and notifies Shift Steward, Assistant Executive Steward and/or Executive Steward of any unsafe conditions or areas, machinery that require attention or repair when as well as when materials and chemicals require restocking.
  • Cleans and sanitizes cook’s line in all food outlets.
  • Cleans and sanitizes all food storage areas as well as shipping/receiving areas.
  • Disposes of empty cardboard boxes and bales them for recycling.
  • Collects and disposes of trash from outlets.
  • Washes and sanitizes kitchen floor area, in compliance with Silverton Casino and Southern Nevada Health District standards.
  • Responds to request for cleaning and/or basic maintenance throughout the kitchen area.
  • Completes all assigned duties in accordance with Silverton Casino and Southern Nevada Health District standards as well as within given time constraints.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must adhere to all uniform requirements including but not limited to hair restraints (hat and/or hair net), company issued uniform pieces and personally obtained slip resistant footwear.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with management concerning all Team Member and vendor related issues, problems and/or solutions.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during all interactions with fellow Team Members and Vendors.
  • Ability to accept performance feedback in a professional manner.
  • Regular attendance on all scheduled shifts is considered an essential function of the job.

Skills, Education & Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrated willingness to learn all factors of proper kitchen cleaning.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a wide variety of equipment in a high volume fast paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
  • Minimum six (6) months previous experience as a Kitchen Cleaner preferred.

Required Work Cards:

  • Southern Nevada Food Handlers Safety Card.
  • Identification that establishes identity.
  • Identification that establishes the right to work in the United States.
