Senior Cabinet Designer / Sales Consultant

Position Summary

The Senior Cabinet Designer / Sales Consultant is responsible for developing, designing, selling, and managing residential cabinetry projects from initial customer consultation through final order and installation coordination.

This is a senior-level, revenue-producing position responsible for approximately $1,000,000–$2,000,000 in annual cabinetry sales. The ideal candidate combines advanced cabinet design and technical knowledge with strong sales ability, project ownership, and exceptional customer service.

The Senior Cabinet Designer is expected to independently manage a substantial book of business while maintaining strong gross margins, accurate orders, satisfied customers, and productive relationships with builders, remodelers, designers, and homeowners.

Sales & Business Development

  • Generate $1,000,000–$2,000,000 in annual cabinet sales while meeting established gross-margin and profitability targets.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with homeowners, builders, remodelers, interior designers, architects, and other trade partners.
  • Convert company-provided leads, referrals, repeat customers, and self-generated opportunities into profitable sales.
  • Conduct customer consultations to understand design objectives, budget, schedule, and project requirements.
  • Prepare and present proposals, designs, product selections, and pricing.
  • Consistently follow up on opportunities and maintain an organized, active sales pipeline.
  • Identify opportunities to increase project value through appropriate cabinetry, accessories, hardware, countertops, and related products and services.

Cabinet Design

  • Develop functional, attractive, and technically accurate cabinetry designs for kitchens, bathrooms, built-ins, bars, laundry rooms, offices, and other residential spaces.
  • Use 2020 Design at an advanced level to create cabinet layouts, floor plans, elevations, renderings, pricing, modifications, accessories, and order documentation.
  • Perform or verify field measurements and identify site conditions that may affect cabinetry design or installation.
  • Apply strong knowledge of cabinetry construction, fillers, panels, moldings, clearances, appliances, plumbing, electrical requirements, and installation practices.
  • Guide customers through cabinet styles, finishes, construction options, hardware, accessories, and related selections.
  • Balance aesthetics, functionality, customer budget, product limitations, profitability, and installation requirements.

Project & Order Management

  • Own projects from initial consultation through design, sale, ordering, delivery, and installation coordination.
  • Review all orders carefully for dimensions, quantities, finishes, modifications, accessories, and other specifications prior to submission.
  • Coordinate with customers, vendors, installers, project managers, and internal staff.
  • Maintain complete and accurate project documentation.
  • Communicate lead times, schedule expectations, changes, and potential issues proactively.
  • Resolve design, ordering, delivery, and installation issues professionally and efficiently.
  • Manage change orders, replacements, warranty items, and other post-sale requirements as necessary.
  • Minimize avoidable ordering errors, remakes, credits, and margin erosion.

Performance Expectations

Success in this position will be measured using a combination of:

  • Annual sales: $1,000,000–$2,000,000
  • Gross margin: Achievement of company-established margin and profitability targets
  • Sales pipeline: Consistent development and maintenance of opportunities necessary to achieve annual sales goals
  • Closing performance: Effective conversion of qualified opportunities into profitable sales
  • Order accuracy: Low rate of designer-caused errors, remakes, credits, and warranty expenses
  • Project execution: Timely and accurate completion of designs, proposals, revisions, and orders
  • Customer satisfaction: Strong communication, professionalism, and successful project outcomes
  • Relationship development: Growth and retention of builder, designer, contractor, and repeat-client relationships

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of cabinet, kitchen and bath, or related design/sales experience.
  • Demonstrated history of independently producing significant cabinetry sales, preferably $1,000,000+ annually.
  • Advanced proficiency with 2020 Design software required, including cabinet layout, elevations, renderings, pricing, modifications, accessories, and order preparation.
  • Advanced understanding of cabinetry construction, specifications, and installation requirements.

  • Ability to accurately read architectural plans, construction drawings, and field measurements.
  • Strong mathematical and dimensional reasoning skills.
  • Excellent sales, presentation, communication, and relationship-management skills.
