Job description


Responsible for assisting with some food preparation, washing dishes, maintaining the
cleanliness of the kitchen and dining room, and serving meals to the residents. Assist any
residents that need help with their meals. The dietary aid works along with the dietary
manager to prepare and serve meals and beverages. Server/dietary aid will also assists in
clean up, kitchen maintenance, and setting up and taking down the dining areas. Other
job duties include delivering food to residents' rooms, preparing and serving snacks, and
taking inventory of food and kitchen supplies.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Serves all food according to the menu in a safe, sanitary manner under the
direction of the dining services coordinator/manager
2. Maintaining kitchen sanitation and safety standards under the direction of the
Dining Services Coordinator
3. Assists in serving meals to residents within an assisted living community as well
as maintaining standards of kitchen cleanliness
4. Setting up and taking down the dining areas
5. Follows departmental procedures including sanitation, safety, and cleaning
schedules
6. Reports any concerns with the health and well-being of residents to the Resident
Care Coordinator or Nurse
7. Maintains and protects the confidentiality of resident information at all times
8. Meets or exceeds, the standards of appearance; complies with the sanitation rules,
hygiene and health standards of community personnel
9. Serves meals in a fine and gracious manner, ensuring the dignity and nutritional
needs of the residents
10. Assists with putting away and organizing the weekly orders
11. Helps keep the kitchen and dining room clean and organized
12. Insures that the cleanliness of kitchen and dining area meets or exceeds the
dietary manager's specifications and is in compliance with state regulations
13. Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor
Job Qualifications:
1. Must possess a current Food Handler's Permit
2. Have the ability to effectively communicate with residents, families, supervisors,
and associates
3. Must provide written proof of recent TB test or obtain within two weeks of date
of hire
4. Must be positive and deliver a WOW experience through service
5. Performs unpleasant tasks with grace; works cooperatively with supervisors and
displays willingness to assist co-workers
6. Willingness to work with the elderly
