Job Description:

Purpose: The Production Manager is responsible for coordinating all required activities to produce quality parts for on-time delivery. All duties occur in coordination and close communication with support areas, such as supply chain, quality, engineering, and maintenance, and others. Follows Kinetico policies and procedures.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership, training, mentoring, coaching, and performance management for the supervisors and the entire production team.
  • Builds and maintains a culture of collaboration by facilitating open dialogue, mutual respect, and strong partnerships across teams and leadership levels
  • Delegates production tasks, trains employees on assembly procedures and processes, provides the workforce with appropriate tools and equipment, oversees and approves employee time transactions, evaluates employee performance, and recommends employment actions.
  • Focus on employee engagement and support our ability to produce a high-performance, quality-driven, and engaged workforce.
  • Develops and drives connections across all boundaries, working collaboratively to develop solutions for our long-term strategy.
  • Coordinates and monitors the work of all production team activities, measures critical KPIs, and implements the required actions to ensure goal compliance.
  • Monitors standard work compliances according to the quality management system (QMS) and implements improvements, ensuring quality of products.
  • Assists in the development of strategic plans for operational activity. Implements and manages operational plans.
  • Improves processes and policies in support of organizational goals. Formulates and implements formal procedures to enhancing the quality system. Monitors adherence to rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Assures that ERP content is accurate and correct by performing daily data entry, promote data entry in real time. Anticipates and maintains inventory levels to meet scheduling needs.

  • Safety: recordables, incidents and observations; 5's Audits
  • Quality: Scrap cost, costumer claims, First pass yield
  • Productivity: Hours earned; schedule compliance
  • Deliveries: OTIF
  • Cost: Overtime, Supplies, DL

Key Challenges and Decisions:

  • The role is broad in scope, managing multiple product lines requiring in-depth knowledge of each.
  • Ensure the team possesses the knowledge and skills to continuously improve quality and productivity through training, personnel selection, and replacement if necessary under Kinetico policies.
  • Handling of quality issues.
  • Process improvements for product lines, such as time studies, line balancing, waste elimination, process reviews and elimination of unnecessary steps, and equipment updates.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required (or experience in lieu of degree)
  • 8 or more years of industry-relevant production experience required, including 5 years of management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of human resource principles and practices.
  • Customer and quality focused
  • Organizational and critical thinking skills and the ability to solve practical problems.
  • Experience using Lean manufacturing tools such as value stream mapping, 5S, takt time, Spaghetti diagram, etc.
  • Six sigma desired
  • Manufacturing, engineering, design experience.
  • New product launch experience

Organizational Context:

The Production Manager reports to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering. This position serves a key role within the production management team. The role works closely with: Safety, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and other functional production managers.
