We're looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented Pediatric Registered Nurses (RN's) to join our team!


Our calling at PPEC of Palm Beach is supporting families in our community and the precious children entrusted to our expert care. PPEC of Palm Beach is a Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care center which was founded to serve medically fragile children in Palm Beach County. 


PPEC of Palm Beach is a Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) center, or a medical daycare facility, that provides nursing services to children with complex medical needs from ages 0 up until age 21.  Children have a variety of conditions, though common ones include seizure disorders, enteral feeding tubes, tracheostomies, complications from premature birth, and rare genetic conditions.


Children are in the care of nurses and nursing/medical assistants throughout the day to make sure that they remain stable and have easy access to developmental and therapeutic services. We offer transportation to and from the PPEC facility and have therapists that will see the kids on-site. Within the facility, there are 4-5 different rooms that separate children based on their age and their activity levels. There is at least one nurse and one assistant in each room. 


What You'll Do


Under the Director of Nursing's guidance, the RN staff nurse promotes and restores patient's health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with multidisciplinary team members, providing physical and psychological support to patients and their care providers; supervising assigned team members.  Other duties include:

  • Assists in carrying out rehabilitation programming and activities for PPEC patients such as development of social skills, development of daily living skills
  • Provides personal care services to patients including oral hygiene, bathing and hair care as needed, nail care, diapering and dressing
  • Provides bed care to patients, repositioning, ambulating and assisting with elimination needs. Moving to and from wheelchairs and other mobility equipment
  • Administers medications to patients orally, enterally, intra-, or subcutaneously 
  • Monitors effects of medications, records medication given and patients' reactions
  • Observes and monitors movement and activities of patients in the PPEC
  • Assists/reviews MAR and other logs monthly and as needed to ensure accuracy

Our hours are 7AM-7PM Mondays-Fridays and 8AM-2PM on Saturdays. Scheduled hours/days may be flexible depending on your needs and the number of children scheduled in our care.

Requirements

  • Experience in a pediatric care setting 
  • Valid RN as issued by the Florida Board of Nursing 
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required 
  • Must be able to pass a Level II background check 
  • Must be able to regularly lift and carry at least 50 lbs. safely 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills 
  • Knowledge of Registered Nursing techniques and methods
  • Knowledge of medications and treatments used in patient care
  • Ability to work on some Saturdays
