Job Description
About the role
The Capital Equipment Procurement Category lead will lead strategic sourcing and supplier management for a portfolio of equipment technology with a spend responsibility of approximately $40 million USD. This role requires strong analytical, negotiation, and project management skills to deliver cost optimization, risk mitigation, and innovation across a technically complex product portfolio. Operating within a shared services model, the position supports North America Rigids and collaborates extensively with global and divisional stakeholders.
The successful candidate will combine market insight, supplier engagement, and cross-functional leadership to ensure supply continuity, competitive advantage, and alignment with business objectives.
Key Job Accountabilities
  • Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships; review technology, operations, and supply chain opportunities.
  • Travel to supplier and divisional sites, trade shows, and industry events as required.
  • Act as liaison between suppliers, international sourcing, divisional manufacturing, plant operations, sales, R&D, and the EVV purchasing group.
  • Acquire and maintain deep knowledge of market forces, cost trends, technology developments, and R&D platforms for assigned commodities.
  • Conduct periodic sourcing reviews using cost models to validate strategic metrics and results.
  • Create risk assessments and recommend actions regarding supplier reliability, financial health, and market competitiveness.
  • Lead cross-functional projects, ensuring resource alignment and timely delivery of objectives.
  • Review and negotiate contracts to support commodity-specific strategic and financial goals.
  • Provide training and guidance to purchasing staff and other internal groups.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and conduct business reviews with suppliers.
  • Create and manage contracts with key assigned vendors.
  • Strong technical understanding of Packaging Capital Equipment Technologies in assigned commodities

Qualifications/Requirements
  • 3-5 years in procurement, engineering or supply chain management, preferably in a global manufacturing environment (Capital Equipment experience preferred).
  • Proven experience managing high-value spend and complex commodity portfolios.
  • Strong negotiation and an understanding of contractual terms.
  • Proficiency in cost modeling and market analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field; MBA or professional certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM) preferred.
  • Ability to travel as required.
