Company Description i45NOW is a local news and information outlet operated by Aulds Media NOW. We are expanding to serve communities along and around the SH 288 corridor in Texas - Pearland, Manvel and Alvin. The organization focuses on timely, accurate coverage of local events, public safety, government, business, and community stories that matter to residents. Using a mix of digital, social, and video-first platforms, 288NOW aims to make local news accessible and engaging for diverse audiences. Team members collaborate closely to deliver high-quality journalism that supports informed decision-making and community connection.

Role Description The Multi Media Journalist is a full-time, hybrid role based in Pearland, TX, with a blend of field reporting and work-from-home content production. Day-to-day responsibilities include identifying and pitching story ideas, reporting on breaking and enterprise news, conducting interviews, and gathering information from multiple sources. The role involves producing written articles, shooting and editing video, capturing photos, and creating social media content tailored to digital audiences. The journalist will update stories as they develop, verify facts, adhere to ethical and legal standards, and meet tight deadlines. Collaboration with editors, producers, and other team members to plan coverage, refine story angles, and ensure consistent brand voice is also a key part of the position.

Qualifications

  • Strong reporting and storytelling abilities, including news gathering, interviewing, and writing clear, engaging copy.
  • Experience with multimedia production, such as video shooting, basic video editing, and photography for digital platforms.
  • Comfort with digital tools, content management systems, and social media publishing to reach and grow online audiences.
  • Ability to work on deadline, manage multiple assignments, and adapt quickly to breaking news situations.
  • Solid understanding of journalism ethics, media law basics, and standards for accuracy and fairness.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently in a hybrid environment.
  • Familiarity with local or community news coverage in Texas or similar markets is preferred.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
