Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our team as a Payroll Tax Accounting Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for a broad range of accounting support, focusing on multi-state payroll taxes.

Responsibilities:

  • Process timely and accurate payroll tax returns
  • Oversee all facets of multi-state payroll tax payment processing, tax return preparation, and payroll tax reporting compliance
  • Prepare tax returns and invoice adjustments to collect discrepancies from the client
  • Keep abreast of current tax laws to ensure compliance
  • Assist customers with tax registrations
  • Resolve tax issues and communicate with client
  • Request abatement of penalty with state agencies
  • Reconcile tax related general ledger accounts and journal entries
  • Prepare and maintain all payroll tax related files weekly and quarterly
  • Perform account analysis, reconciliations and year end W-2 processes
  • Convert clients to new state agent websites
  • Perform other duties as assigned such as special projects and research


Qualifications: 

  • 2 - 5 years of experience with payroll tax filings and compliance
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Must have excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills required
  • Experience with payroll tax software a plus
  • Multi-state tax filing a plus
