What is a kangaroo?

Kangaroos are large marsupials native to Australia, known for their powerful hind legs, long tail, and distinctive hopping movement. They belong to the family Macropodidae, which means 'big foot.' Kangaroos are herbivores and are most active at dawn and dusk. Female kangaroos carry and nurse their young, called joeys, in a pouch on their belly. They play an important role in Australian ecosystems and are also a national symbol of Australia.

What are some common challenges faced by kangaroo keepers when caring for kangaroos in a zoo or sanctuary setting?

Kangaroo Keepers often encounter challenges such as managing the animals' specialized dietary needs, ensuring proper enclosure maintenance to prevent escapes, and monitoring for signs of stress or illness. They must also be attentive to kangaroo social dynamics, as these animals can be territorial or aggressive at times.
