Job Summary

The focus of this role is to create exceptional architectural lighting designs for a wide range of projects through effective team collaboration, aiming to exceed client expectations. Being a dependable team player is crucial, which involves understanding all stages of a project and demonstrating flexibility when crafting engaging interior and exterior lighting designs. These projects span various sectors, including commercial spaces, residential properties, healthcare facilities, hospitality venues, higher education institutions, and museums or galleries.

Being efficient is crucial, and top performers are skilled in using tools like AGi32, Autodesk Revit, Rhinoceros, ALFA, Climate Studio, Grasshopper, Bluebeam, Photoshop, InDesign, and Excel to document and communicate their design ideas.

Core Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior designers to develop innovative lighting concepts and designs for a range of projects.
  • Understand and assess projects needs and communicate to direct manager or supervisors.
  • Keeps supervisor up to date with work status, workload and project’s issues that may arise.
  • Participate in mosaic workload projection meetings.
  • Comprehend tasks and meet schedule / deadlines.
  • Assist in creating detailed lighting plans, layouts, and specifications tailored to project requirements.
  • Conduct in-depth research on lighting technologies, products, and industry trends.
  • Contribute to the preparation of compelling project presentations and documentation.
  • Coordinate closely with the design team to seamlessly integrate lighting concepts into overall project plans.
  • Attends client meetings to discuss and refine lighting concepts based on project-specific needs.
  • Understanding of qa/qc procedures.
  • Support the execution of lighting installations, ensuring the successful realization of the design vision.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in lighting technology and design trends, providing valuable insights.
  • Attends construction site walkthroughs and project team meetings.
  • Interface with other disciplines involved in the design team to coordinate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing requirements.
  • Participate in local industry related organization and events.
  • Develop technical skills by continuously seeking improvement through supplemental education.

Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in lighting design, with a proven portfolio in various project settings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in lighting design software: AGi32, Autodesk Revit, Rhinoceros, ALFA, Climate Studio, Grasshopper.
  • Familiarity with collaboration and project management tools: Bluebeam, Photoshop, InDesign, Excel.
  • Excellent visual and spatial awareness.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and design trends.

  • Familiarity with building codes, regulations related to lighting design, and basic knowledge of electrical systems.

Salary Range

This is a hybrid role. It is anticipated that the working days in the office will be done at our  Monrovia, CA office. The expected salary for candidates who will work in Monrovia, CA is $28.00 per hour. The final offer to our new team member will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the length, breadth, and depth of experience within the job and the industry, education, etc. ATCE is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
