The Machinist role is a mid-level position that performs technical and skilled trades tasks to support the design, fabrication, maintenance, and improvement of systems, equipment, and facilities. This position requires a solid foundation of technical knowledge and skills, with the ability to work independently on routine assignments and contribute to more complex projects under general supervision. The role emphasizes quality, safety, and collaboration to ensure operational readiness and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Operations

  • Perform technical tasks such as machining, fabrication, and assembly with minimal supervision.
  • Operate and maintain specialized tools, equipment, and machinery, including CNC machines.
  • Analyze technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to produce high-quality components and assemblies.


Fabrication and Prototyping

  • Fabricate and assemble components for prototypes and production systems, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Assist in the design and development of components and manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.


Maintenance and Repairs

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.
  • Conduct inspections, testing, and diagnostics to ensure systems and equipment meet operational standards.
  • Document maintenance activities and provide recommendations for improvements.


Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in safety training and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.


Collaboration and Leadership

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, supporting their skill development and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and team members to complete projects and resolve technical challenges.
  • Communicate effectively to report progress, issues, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.


Manager Defined Field:

  • The potential candidate shall be proficient in all aspects of CNC machining and part inspection.
  • The applicant must be capable of making own set-ups on simple easy to machine parts to single one-of-a-kind complex prototypes on a variety of materials.


Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with additional technical coursework or certifications required.
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing or machining, with demonstrated expertise in machining processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of CNC machining, including setup, operation, and troubleshooting for both simple and complex parts.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure compliance with quality and DoD standards.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols, quality standards, and industry regulations, including DoD contractor requirements.
  • Intermediate to advanced math skills, including algebra, geometry, and shop math.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software or technical drawings, with the ability to make minor modifications to designs.
  • Familiarity with automated systems, robotics, or advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Proven ability to lead or mentor junior technicians and contribute to team development.


Work Environment/Conditions:

  • Work is performed in industrial, manufacturing, or climate-controlled environments.
  • Requires standing, sitting, bending, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and performing repetitive hand and wrist movements.
  • Exposure to noise, heat, and other environmental factors typical of technical trades work.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and provided.
