The Opportunity:

WSP is seeking a highly motivated Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join our Ground Engineering and Materials Team in Prince George, BC. Your work will blend field assignments with officebased analysis and design on a wide range of geotechnical projects throughout British Columbia and the Yukon. You'll collaborate with technical experts, support major infrastructure initiatives, and contribute directly to our regional and northern project portfolio.

Your Impact

  • Lead and participate in field programs including borehole drilling, test pitting, in situ testing, instrumentation installation, and construction monitoring.
  • Analyze geotechnical and geological data to develop recommendations for foundations, retaining structures, earthworks, pavements, and slope stability.
  • Prepare clear, defensible technical reports such as investigations, design briefs, and construction documentation.
  • Provide geotechnical input to multidisciplinary teams and support innovative, data driven solutions.
  • Mentor junior staff in field methods, analysis techniques, and safety practices.
  • Build strong client relationships through responsive, reliable engineering advice.
  • Support quality assurance processes, project coordination, and continuous improvement in geotechnical practice.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, as a P.Eng. with EGBC.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Geotechnical or Geological Engineer.
  • Valid Canadian driver's license.
  • Solid intermediate level consulting experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Strong analytical abilities and proven project management capability.
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Rocscience, or similar.
  • Experience interpreting soil and rock conditions, laboratory data, and construction requirements.
  • Willingness to work on project sites as required.
  • Ability to critically assess and validate geotechnical analysis outputs.

  • AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $89,800 - $118,900
  • MB & ON: $81,900 - $112,800
  • NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $81,100 - $107,700
