Torch Technologies is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Software Developer to join our team supporting Missile Defense System (MDS) Ground Test (GT) scenario design for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This position plays a key role in evaluating the performance of national defense systems through Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) and simulation-based test environments while contributing to ongoing modernization of mission-critical tools and applications.
As a Software Developer, your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:
  • Maintain ASP.NET Core Web Services that implement mathematical models of sensors and weapon systems.
  • Design, develop, and maintain web-based applications and web services used in the MDS Ground Test scenario design process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers and software developers to enhance and modernize tools, applications, and processes.
  • Participate in requirements gathering and interface directly with end users to understand needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Perform full-stack development including work with SQL databases, back-end services, and front-end user interface components.
  • Apply best practices in software engineering with emphasis on scalability, maintainability, and code quality.
  • Ensure timely completion of development tasks while maintaining high standards of technical excellence.
  • Contribute innovative ideas and solutions to improve team processes and mission capabilities.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment supporting defense mission requirements.

Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in full-stack software development, including front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core) and back-end development (C#, .NET Framework, .NET Core), with demonstrated experience supporting large-scale systems.
  • Active SECRET security clearance required.
  • Familiarity with web service development and service-oriented architectures.
  • Ability to work with advanced math and physics concepts, particularly vector mathematics.
  • Proficiency in designing, implementing, and optimizing SQL database structures and queries.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly to new technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with both end users and technical teams.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and able to deliver quality work under tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and best practices.
  • Previous experience supporting defense or aerospace programs.
  • Strong interest in mission-critical software applications and high-performance simulation environments.
