Job description

Build the Foundation of Modern Computing
If you're passionate about low-level firmware engineering and enjoy solving the kinds of problems most software engineers never see, this opportunity offers the chance to make a measurable impact on next-generation hardware platforms.
You'll work on firmware that sits at the core of system reliability, security, and performance—developing BIOS/UEFI solutions that initialize hardware, enable operating systems, and ensure enterprise-class computing platforms perform flawlessly from power-on.
This is an opportunity to join an experienced engineering team where technical expertise is valued, leadership is encouraged, and you'll have the chance to influence both products and fellow engineers.
Why This Opportunity Is Different
Unlike many firmware positions focused solely on maintenance, this role offers the opportunity to influence platform architecture from the ground up.
You'll have the opportunity to:
  • Lead firmware development for new hardware platforms.
  • Drive complex hardware bring-up activities.
  • Work closely with hardware, operating system, and security engineering teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers while helping establish engineering best practices.
  • Contribute to advanced firmware security and boot optimization initiatives.
  • Expand your technical expertise across modern x86 platforms and enterprise server technologies.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Design, develop, and maintain BIOS/UEFI firmware using C and C++.
  • Develop firmware across all UEFI boot phases including SEC, PEI, and DXE.
  • Lead hardware bring-up and resolve complex hardware/firmware integration challenges.
  • Initialize and optimize DDR memory, PCIe, SATA, USB, SPI, I2C, and additional platform interfaces.
  • Improve boot performance and implement modern firmware security technologies including Secure Boot, Intel Boot Guard, and TPM integration.
  • Debug low-level firmware using JTAG, logic analyzers, and in-circuit emulators.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers using schematics and component datasheets.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical documentation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across firmware projects.
  • Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure platform reliability and compatibility.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 2+ years of BIOS/UEFI firmware development experience.
  • Strong C/C++ programming experience for embedded systems.
  • Deep understanding of UEFI architecture and EDK2.
  • Strong knowledge of x86 architecture and system boot processes.
  • Experience with PCIe, SPI, I2C, USB, SATA, and related hardware interfaces.
  • Experience with Python or similar scripting language for automation.
  • Knowledge of Secure Boot, TPM, Intel Boot Guard, or firmware security standards.
  • Experience debugging low-level boot and firmware issues.
  • Familiarity with SMM, ACPI, Intel FSP, or IFWI is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to mentor teammates or lead technical initiatives.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
Compensation & Work Model Compensation: Negotiable based on experience.
Work Model: Onsite
Location: Nashville, Tennessee
