Position Summary:
The Junior Graphics & UI Designer works with the project teams to develop graphical interface screens for building automation system operator workstations. The role will be involved with understanding and representing a variety of systems including HVAC, Hydronic, Lighting, Energy, Security/Accessibility, and more. You will work closely with engineering technicians, service technicians, and customers to understand the visual and operational needs of each unique job and organize the graphics and data in an intuitive manner.
Responsibilities:
  • Read/understand mechanical drawings, shop drawings, and controller databases to produce Graphical User Interfaces.
  • Occasionally create visual graphics to support the sales department.
  • Communicate with customers and service teams to improve the usability of the UI.
  • Assist in identifying inefficiencies in the graphics creation process and to help develop solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Work individually or coordinate with team members to quickly complete larger projects on schedule.
  • Visualize and implement design solutions in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Organize information from multiple sources and communicate with other teams or customers when further information is required for optimal accuracy.
  • Use creative thinking to design new graphical assets when needed to improve the display of information.
  • Understand the use of simple programming logic blocks or scripts to create dynamic data display and user interactions.
Qualifications:
  • A strong understanding of web-based design/layouts/iconography
  • A strong understanding of the Adobe Suite (Photoshop/Illustrator)
  • A basic understanding of HTML/CSS is a bonus
  • Ability to communicate and work in teams
  • The ability to visualize and implement design solutions quickly and cost efficiently.
  • 3D modelling/rendering and image editing/Photoshop experience is an asset.
  • A strong, clean visual design sense with an understanding of digital design fundamentals
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • The ability to work without supervision
  • Good customer relations skills
  • Must have their own secure transportation to visit sites
