DBA Junior Sybase – Secret

Xcelerate Solutions is seeking a DBA Junior Sybase. The Junior Sybase Database Administrator supports routine monitoring, maintenance, and basic administration of Sybase ASE/SQL databases running on‐premises and within Azure‐based environments. This role helps ensure stable database operations, assists with performance troubleshooting, and contributes to modernization and migration efforts under the guidance of senior DBAs. Location: Remote

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in administering and maintaining Sybase ASE/SQL databases and associated configurations in Azure and hybrid environments.
  • Monitor database performance, system alerts, scheduled jobs, and resource utilization; escalate issues to senior team members as needed.
  • Support routine database tasks including backups, restores, health checks, and basic maintenance activities.
  • Help troubleshoot Sybase database issues such as connectivity problems, slow queries, or job failures under supervision.
  • Participate in database updates, schema changes, and script execution related to application and environment changes.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of Sybase ASE/SQL concepts, SQL fundamentals, and relational database principles.
  • Familiarity with database tools such as Sybase Central, isql, or similar utilities (coursework, labs, or hands‐on practice acceptable).
  • Awareness of backup/restore processes, database security practices, and performance‐related basics.
  • Strong problem‐solving mindset, attention to detail, and willingness to follow established procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with migration concepts (e.g., moving legacy databases into Azure IaaS/PaaS environments) is helpful but not required.
