Sr. Fullstack Engineer - 100% Remote (EST Hours) - Contract to Hire
About the Role
Apex Systems is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Fullstack Engineer to join an innovative team driving the next evolution of a multi-tenant SaaS IoT platform for the construction and industrial equipment sector. Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and develop new features for a robust, event-driven IoT platform supporting real-time telemetry from distributed assets (bulldozers, heavy machinery, etc.).
- Write high-quality, efficient, scalable, and reusable code using Node.js (Hapi.js/Express.js) on the backend and React with micro-frontend architecture on the frontend.
- Tackle system scalability, performance optimization, API design, and latency issues within a large-scale, distributed environment.
- Own the reliability of your code by writing comprehensive unit tests and supporting rigorous QA processes.
- Mentor and coach fellow engineers, providing technical leadership and contributing to architectural decisions.
- Collaborate with product managers and senior leadership to define, scope, and plan innovative new features and long-term product direction.
- Work cross-functionally with agile teams to deliver user-centric solutions and improve development processes.
- Document solutions thoroughly for maintainability and knowledge sharing.
Required Skills and Experience
- 8+ years professional development experience as a Full Stack Engineer building complex, large-scale platforms.
- Deep hands-on expertise in JavaScript, Node.js (Hapi.js/Express.js), and React (including micro-frontend architecture).
- Proven experience designing and maintaining microservices-based architectures and robust SQL database solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical and business problems across diverse software architectures.
- Experience building real-time event processing platforms and optimizing for system scalability, API performance, and latency reduction.
- Strong understanding of backend architecture and system tradeoffs.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Engineers with C#, .NET, or Python backgrounds are welcome if eager to transition into a JavaScript/Node.js-centric stack.
