Raytheon has an exciting IT position available that supports the Raytheon mission of making the world a safer place. We are currently seeking a Principal Linux Systems Administrator, based in Huntsville, AL will be working onsite in a highly collaborative, multi-platform and multi-disciplined environment. The Systems Administrator is required to have an active secret security clearance as they will be responsible for deploying and maintaining classified IT infrastructures. The candidate's day-to-day activities include but are not limited to: RedHat Linux server management; storage management; file server management; access management; data backup; software and license configuration; and workstation support. Each day in the life of a Systems Administrator can bring something new - building a new IT infrastructure for a group of engineers, strategizing disaster recovery, updating virus definitions and security patches, teaming with our brilliant engineers on how to improve their processes, and more.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Redhat Enterprise Linux, and Microsoft Windows.
  • Experience with Linux fundamentals and Windows Server internals to include Ansible, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, AD, and server replication methods.
  • Working as a team member in a fast-paced technological environment. Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of a moderate to high scope and complexity to include the integration of hardware and operating systems (OS).
  • Experience with data RAID, data backup uses and technologies. Install and configure software applications requested by end users.
  • Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation and training on advanced IT processes and procedures and other tasks as assigned.
  • Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date.
  • Must be able to develop solutions and documentation to solve a variety of technical problems.
  • Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours.
  • Travel is required to other US Domestic locations as business needs dictate up to 10% travel.
  • Full time 100% Onsite position.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience, or master's degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Must have an active and in-scope US DoD secret clearance. US citizenship is required as only US citizens are eligible for security clearance
  • Must have Linux experience
  • Experience in one of the following: Active Directory, VMware, system hardening, disaster recovery

Qualifications We Value:
  • Experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF
  • Familiarity with High Performance Computing (HPC) Environments
  • Experience with Enterprise Active Directory (AD) & LDAP
  • Experience with security posturing using tools like SCAP, Nessus, Splunk, Symantec and other AV solutions, and system hardening.
  • Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
  • Able to real-time troubleshoot and develop solutions with documentation to a variety of technical problems.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
