About the Role

As we scale our content, team, and technology, we’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build and maintain our products. We’re a small, agile team building digital tools to change how people think about money—and the Senior Software Engineer will be pivotal to help bring that vision to life. You’ll collaborate with our product designer and engineers from concept to launch, building solutions that prioritize simplicity, speed, and an exceptional user experience.

What You'll Do:

Platform Architecture & Technical Leadership

  • Design and architect scalable platform infrastructure for DollarWise and future products to handle millions of users
  • Lead technical decision-making for system architecture, technology stack choices, and platform scalability
  • Establish coding standards, development practices, and architectural patterns across the engineering team
  • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers, conducting code reviews and providing technical direction

Full Stack Development & System Design

  • Own end-to-end development of complex, high-impact features across multiple platforms
  • Architect robust backend systems with focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability
  • Design responsive, high-performance frontend interfaces that deliver exceptional user experiences
  • Implement microservices architecture and API design patterns for platform modularity

Team Collaboration & Process Leadership

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Lead design discussions and architectural reviews to ensure system coherence and quality
  • Drive technical roadmap planning and help define long-term technology strategy
  • Establish development processes including CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and deployment strategies

Performance & Growth

  • Monitor and optimize platform performance using data-driven approaches and analytics
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for production platform health
  • Support rapid product iteration based on user feedback and business requirements

Requirements

Technical Expertise

  • 7+ years of full stack development experience with proven track record of building scalable web applications
  • 3+ years in senior/staff-level roles with experience leading technical architecture and mentoring developers
  • Expert-level proficiency in PHP (Laravel framework) and Vue.js with deep understanding of modern development practices
  • Strong experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and database design (MySQL/PostgreSQL)
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Vercel, DigitalOcean) and infrastructure-as-code practices
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and deployment automation

Architecture & Leadership Skills

  • Proven ability to design and implement scalable system architectures for high-traffic applications
  • Experience mentoring developers and leading technical teams through complex projects
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles including testing, code quality, and maintainability
  • Experience with performance optimization, caching strategies, and database optimization
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance considerations for financial applications

Fintech & Product Focus

  • Experience building consumer-focused products, bonus points for fintech or financial services platforms
  • Understanding of financial data handling, compliance requirements, and security standards
  • Experience with data analytics integration and user behavior tracking
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and responsive design principles
