Senior Java Software Engineer (Aurora, CO; Herndon, VA)

Position Title: Senior Java Software Engineer. Position ID: TA248. Location(s): On-site; Aurora, CO; Herndon, VA. Application Deadline: August 31, 2026. Security Clearance Requirement: TS/SCI Security Clearance with Polygraph.

Job Description

Trusted Space is seeking a Sr. Software Developer with a Bachelor’s degree or higher and 10+ years’ experience to join our team. Candidates will design, develop, and maintain high-performance software applications. The ideal candidate has experience with the Java programming language, object-oriented design, debugging, and optimizing complex systems, and works effectively in a collaborative, agile development environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supports program objectives to include software development in a collaborative agile environment.
  • Works with users to define existing or new system scope and objectives. Provides analytical support and technical advice during the conceptualization, development, and implementation phases.
  • Assists in the review and evaluation of systems and software for adherence to government or commercial directives, standards, guidelines, and criteria concerning software safety and systems safety.
  • Able to lead small high performing team of developers across the full software development lifecycle.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related. Additional experience may beconsidered in lieu of a degree.
  • 10+ years in software engineering or related experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with Java for production level software.
  • Experience with the Java Spring Framework.
  • Experience with messaging frameworks (e.g. Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ).
  • Experience with containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Ability to work in both Windows and Linux environments.
  • An active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD 8570 certification, including CompTIA Security+ or CISSP, within 6 months of start date.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Familiarity with Agile Methodology.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD Pipelines (e.g. Jenkins).
  • Familiarity with database technologies (e.g. MongoDB).
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian Tool Suite.
  • Security+ CE, SSCP, CCNA-Security, or GSEC Certification.
  • Knowledgeable in satellite systems, ground-based mission systems or mission operations.
Compensation

The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $200,000. Please note that this range is a general guideline and can vary. Trusted Space, LLC considers several factors when extending an offer including, but not limited to: scope, location, position responsibilities, education/training, key skills and business considerations.
