Job description

Tech Summary:

IT Applications Engineer, Web  Java/NodeJS IV supports the Digital Experience Engineering organization by serving as a senior technical developer responsible for the design, development, implementation, and optimization of enterprise digital solutions that support customer-facing and business-critical applications. Working across a complex technology landscape, this role partners closely with product, engineering, user experience, platform, and operational teams to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable web-based solutions that advance organizational objectives.

This position provides technical expertise in the development of modern application and integration solutions, helping drive solution design decisions, engineering best practices, and technology modernization efforts across enterprise platforms. The role contributes to the delivery of cloud-based applications, APIs, microservices, content management solutions, and digital experiences while supporting performance, accessibility, security, and operational excellence initiatives.

The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate business needs, implement innovative technology solutions, and support enterprise standards that promote application reliability, scalability, and long-term business value. The ideal candidate has experience delivering enterprise web applications and supporting large-scale digital transformation initiatives within complex organizational environments with both Java, NodeJS skills and a working knowledge of MS DB

Job Summary:

In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this senior individual contributor position is also responsible for the development of internet applications and software tools. This includes working with product teams to understand and contribute to defining the product vision, and developing and supporting end-to-end solutions including architecting, designing, developing, and testing member-facing applications/systems using cloud, content management systems (CMS) and traditional integrations. This position is also responsible for performing hands-on development of cloud applications, CMS, and integration solutions on a variety of platforms; researching and resolving technical issues and recommending appropriate interventions/modifications as needed; and ensuring work processes and products meet KP IT security and development standards.


Essential Responsibilities:
  • Completes work assignments and supports business-specific projects by applying expertise in subject area; supporting the development of work plans to meet business priorities and deadlines; ensuring team follows all procedures and policies; coordinating and assigning resources to accomplish priorities and deadlines; collaborating cross-functionally to make effective business decisions; solving complex problems; escalating high priority issues or risks, as appropriate; and recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field and four (4) years experience in software development or a related field. Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

  • Minimum three (3) years experience working on project(s) involving the implementation of solutions development life cycles (e.g., SDLC).

  • Minimum one (1) year in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports.

  • Minimum two (2) years experience  developing and/or implementing web-based applications.

  • Minimum two (2) years experience in developing and utilizing cloud based technologies (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.)

  • Minimum two (2) years experience working with web application frameworks (e.g., Angular, HTML5, CSS, GraphQL, etc.)
