Exciting opportunity for a Full-time Junior Information Technology Specialist (IT Specialist) at ATOLLO in Dahlgren, VA.

The successful candidate will serve as a Junior IT Specialist supporting the US Navy, NDW - Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) & Network Operations Branch. This position will directly support the assigned Installation and designated Installation Commanding Officer. The successful candidate will support the systems administration of hardware, software and network systems at NDW including those that directly interface with Public Safety Networks in support of the customer's Operational Mission. It is an onsite opportunity supporting a customer based at the Naval Support Facility, Dahlgren, VA with local travel duties on a routine basis.

YOUR ROLE AS A JUNIOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (Overview)

ATOLLO is seeking a candidate willing to perform the tasks required to support our customer, the US Navy, NDW NMCI and Network Operations Branch. The candidate must be able to:

  • Provide technical, operational and systems analysis.
  • Coordinate, manage and implement procedural methods for optimizing systems performance.
  • Identify, coordinate and deliver IT services to customers.
  • Monitor systems for performance bottlenecks, perform troubleshooting techniques to resolve system performance shortfalls.
  • Keep superiors and end-users informed of any system interruptions and/or downtime.
  • Review data in the NMCI Enterprise Tool (NET) and ensure accuracy of delivery orders for proper resource allocation including supporting the technical refresh of equipment.
  • Provide support for NMCI Moves, Adds and Changes (MACs).
  • Provide support for the installation, configuration, testing and troubleshooting of hardware, software and network systems.
  • Provide support and services for efforts to expand existing Network and Communication infrastructure.
  • Enforce Command's Information Assurance (IA) policies and assist in investigations of suspected IA violations and compliance issues.
  • Provide training for personnel on the use of software and hardware.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION ARE

  • Be a U.S. Citizen and able to possess a SECRET clearance
  • Must have and/or be able to earn and maintain a CompTIA Security+ certification within 45 days of employment. Other IA / Operating System certifications may be required within 180 days of hire
  • Be able to work in a primarily sedentary position with occasional walking and standing
  • Possess the ability to influence others to comply with Information Assurance technical methods and procedures
  • Be knowledgeable of IT concepts, principles, methods, and practices to effectively support customers
  • Be knowledgeable of various software applications, operating systems, hardware, and network protocols to support troubleshooting and to advise when technical problems arise
  • Be knowledgeable of security principles and methods to ensure compliance with Navy and DOD IT Security policies.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (NETWORK)

To excel in this position, you must have at least:

  • 3 years of direct IT network experience.
  • Perform Network Services (i.e., installations, configurations, and tests.
  • Must be able to operate, maintain and manage networks and their firewalls including hardware and software that permits the sharing and transmission of all spectrum transmissions of information.
  • Must have excellent oral communication, organization, and interpersonal skills and have a passion for the work assigned to provide solutions to the customer's problems.
