Cyber Centaurs is a specialized digital forensics and incident response firm focused on high-stakes corporate investigations, including trade secret theft, data exfiltration, and employee misconduct.
We are not building the largest firm; we are building a disciplined, high-performance team capable of delivering precise, defensible forensic results in legal and corporate environments. Our work regularly intersects with executives, legal counsel, and high-risk scenarios where accuracy and professionalism are non-negotiable.
The Opportunity
This role is designed for early-career digital forensics professionals who are serious about mastering the discipline.
You will work on real investigations involving computers, mobile devices, and digital evidence, while receiving direct mentorship from experienced forensic practitioners.
This is not a general IT or cybersecurity role. It is an investigative role requiring attention to detail, structured thinking, and a strong interest in forensic analysis and legal defensibility.
Over time, this position provides a clear path toward becoming a senior forensic examiner and, ultimately, a testifying expert witness.
Work Structure
  • Primarilyremote, based in the Orlando / Central Florida area
  • On-sitework required as needed for:
    • Deviceimaging at our downtown Orlando office
    • Client-sitecollections (local and occasional travel)
  • Travelmay include regional or domestic trips (estimated up to 25%)
  • Workloadmay vary week-to-week depending on active cases

What You'll Do
Digital Evidence Collection
  • Performforensic imaging of computers, external drives, and mobile devices
  • Maintainstrict chain of custody and evidence handling procedures
  • Supportboth in-office and on-site collections

Forensic Analysis
  • Analyzeforensic images to identify user activity, data access, and potentialexfiltration
  • ExamineWindows, macOS, and mobile artifacts
  • Assistin identifying relevant evidence in corporate investigations

Investigation Support
  • Contributeto trade secret theft and employee misconduct investigations
  • Assistwith data review, keyword analysis, and artifact interpretation
  • Workclosely with senior examiners on case strategy and findings

Reporting & Documentation
  • Prepareclear, structured, and defensible forensic reports
  • Documentmethodologies, findings, and supporting evidence
  • Assistin preparing materials used in legal proceedings

Legal & Expert Support Exposure
  • Supportdevelopment of affidavits and formal findings summaries
  • Gainexposure to litigation workflows and evidentiary standards
  • Assistsenior examiners in preparing for legal review and testimony

Requirements
Experience & Education
  • ~2years of experience in digital forensics, cybersecurity, or a relatedfield
  • OR aMaster's degree in Digital Forensics / Cybersecurity with relevant labexperience
  • Strongacademic or hands-on foundation in forensic principles

Core Competencies
  • Understandingof:
    • Filesystems (NTFS, APFS, etc.)
    • Operatingsystems (Windows, macOS)
    • Basicforensic concepts (imaging, preservation, chain of custody)
    • Knowledge of Computer Hardware
  • Stronganalytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Abilityto work methodically and document findings clearly

Preferred (Not Required)
  • Exposureto tools such as AXIOM, Autopsy, FTK, EnCase, Cellebrite, Oxygen Forensics,or similar
  • Familiaritywith mobile forensics concepts
  • Relevantcertifications (e.g., CCE, CFCE, GCFE, GCFA)
