Job description

The Junior Project Engineer will support the engineering, production, and project management teams throughout the life cycle of fabrication projects. This role is ideal for a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate or someone with 1-3 years of experience who wants exposure to real-world manufacturing, engineering review, procurement, quality control, and customer projects.

The successful candidate will work directly with experienced leadership and play a critical role in helping projects move from award through delivery.

Responsibilities

Engineering & Technical Support

  • Review project specifications, plans, and contract documents
  • Assist with shop drawing and submittal review
  • Coordinate engineering documentation between customers, vendors, and internal teams
  • Support technical reviews of fabrication and design requirements
  • Help maintain project records and drawing revisions

Purchasing & Procurement

  • Generate and track purchase orders
  • Solicit and compare supplier quotations
  • Follow up with vendors regarding material availability and delivery schedules
  • Maintain material tracking logs and procurement documentation

Production & Project Coordination

  • Assist in monitoring project schedules and production milestones
  • Coordinate communication between engineering, production, sales, and customers
  • Help manage project documentation from award through completion
  • Track critical action items and follow up to ensure deadlines are met

Quality Assurance & Documentation

  • Maintain manufacturing quality records and documentation
  • Review inspection reports and fabrication documentation for completeness
  • Support customer submittals and closeout packages
  • Assist with regulatory, ASME, UL, and customer documentation requirements

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred

  • 0-3 years of engineering or manufacturing experience
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software
  • Exposure to manufacturing, fabrication, construction, or industrial environments
  • Experience with project coordination, purchasing, or quality systems
