Job description

SUMMARY

The Junior Commercial Overhead Door Technician is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and on-demand services on commercial overhead doors, glass, glazing and building entry doors.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts regular inspection and preventative maintenance on commercial overhead doors, glass, glazing, building entry doors and related hardware.
  • Provides observations on conditions and deficiencies and suggestions for enhancements and repair.
  • Responds to routine and on-demand service requests.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves commercial overhead door and related hardware issues.
  • Repairs, replaces and installs door hardware components.
  • Records resolution data applicable logs/service maintenance management database. Ensures work completed meets quality and contract response, and all other requirements.
  • Receives, tracks, monitors and reports status of maintenance work within applicable logs/service maintenance management database.ย Initiates documents to obtain formal approval of work required.

Work Requirements

  • Must be able to work shifts, be on-call and be available to respond to emergencies.
  • Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • MINIMUM EDUCATION:ย High school education.
  • Past experience in commercial overhead door maintenance and repair work an asset.
  • High school diploma plus trades training and certification, an asset.
  • Ability to adhere and to properly execute processes and practices.
  • Ability to maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems relating to doors and door hardware components.
  • Strong troubleshooting and resolution skills in order to resolve commercial door issues.
  • Possesses a strong environmental, health and safety mindset.ย Ability to perform work in a safe manner.
  • Strong client-service orientation with a high sense of urgency.
  • Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • Valid Drivers license, clean drivers abstract and clean criminal background check required.

This is a regular, full-time position with a hourly range of $22.65 - $28.32 per hour. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate's competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
