Job description

This is a Sr Reservoir Engineering role on the Technical Engineering Team. This role will report to the Technical Engineering Supervisor and be responsible for collaboration with the Asset Development Team, Completions Design Team, Corporate RC team and the Corporate Chiefs to work and optimize the subsurface value of the Southwest Assets. The team will conduct projects in direct support of the asset to assist in improving our understanding of fundamental reservoir characterization, well placement and spacing, and development strategy. The ideal candidate will take a practical approach utilizing field science data, well performance data, MVA, and other analysis to drive value for the Southwest assets. The Technical Engineering team will integrate across the other teams in an effort to determine and implement optimal economic development strategies with a focus on continuous improvement of the asset and management of the Asset resource model. Additionally, this role will support various business processes related to the management of reserves for the Southwest Assets.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Work to build best possible static descriptions of the subsurface, providing engineering input to geologic and petrophysical studies
  • Develop type curves, depletion models, wells spacing models, and various reservoir related technical analysis across the Southwest Assets
  • Collaborate with Southwest Completion Design team to ensure cohesive decisions are made in regards to well spacing and completions design
  • Collaborate with Asset Development Team on joint studies of well spacing, targeting, and production strategies
  • Ability to compile and analyze data from various internal systems and external data from other operators, Enverus, and/or other publicly available sources
  • Ability to communicate results in a clear and concise manner to management and executives
  • Ensure integration of geological work with geophysical, geomechanical, and engineering (reservoir/completion/production/drilling) analysis to provide unified robust interpretations
  • Remains current in the application of the latest proven technologies and methods used for optimization in the development and production of oil and gas assets
  • Promotes innovation to remain ahead of competitors for delivering enhanced economic returns
  • Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities
  • Mentor and develop junior members of team
  • Oversee annual employee evaluation process and assure that company human resources
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Experienced in asset development of unconventional (horizontal) resource plays. Strong understanding of oil and gas economic evaluations and their appropriate application. Command of fundamental reservoir engineering and geologic/geophysical/geomechanical disciplines. Understands important geological, petrophysical and geochemical properties for unconventional plays. Proficient and strong ability to learn and apply new skills and technologies. Proficient and strong use and application of standard subsurface principles. Can easily identify limitations in data set and range in certainty of results. Ability to build and lead a strong team.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering is required; Petroleum degree is preferred
  • 10+ years of reservoir engineering or geological experience
  • Deep understanding in fundamental reservoir/geology mechanisms
  • Drive to take technical results and apply to asset for driving value to the organization
