What is the opportunity?

RBC Insurance Technology team is undertaking multiple initiatives as part of RBC's continuous evolution and improvement of our insurance solutions.In this role you will apply your development skills and experience to a variety of assignments across the development lifecycle, employing Agile methods and practices, primarily within the Creditor Insurance portfolio.

What will you do?

  • Design, develop, and implement scalable application systems, including coding, testing, debugging, and deployment for large-scale solutions.

  • Analyze organizational needs and align technical solutions with strategic goals to support functions like reconciliation.

  • Ensure operational efficiency of existing systems through maintenance, documentation, and performance tuning.

  • Collaborate with peers to develop, troubleshoot, and enhance code, ensuring alignment with user requirements and best practices.

  • Create and review technical design documents, facilitating meetings to drive project execution and problem-solving.

  • Conduct thorough testing (unit/integration) using automated frameworks and optimize system performance.

  • Estimate task timelines for design, coding, and testing phases.

  • Identify process improvements and prioritize requirements based on business value.

  • Engage in developer communities to foster continuous improvement and adopt industry best practices.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • 5+ years of professional experience with Java/Spring Boot/GraphQL/Microservices
  • Extensive experience working with major relational and no-SQL databases and data analysis
  • Experience developing API / Web Services, REST, Messaging based Applications like MQ, Kafka
  • Experience in Web UI frameworks (i.e. Angular)
  • Familiarity with data modelling and query performance tuning in MongoDB
  • Experience with Containerization and DevOps/automation methods/tools (OpenShift, Docker)
  • Efficient in using AI development productivity tools (i.e., Copilot, Windsurf)

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in Financial Services/Insurance
  • Prompt engineering experience and efficient in using AI productivity tools
  • Familiarity with batch job processing (JCL, StoneBranch)
