Benjamin Moore is currently seeking a Software Engineer with a strong foundation in front-end development (React.js and Next.js) to join our Digital Products team at our Corporate Headquarters in Montvale, NJ. This role will initially focus on building an engaging, responsive, and highly functional user interface to achieve our premium digital brand experience. Over time, the individual will be expected to grow into a full-stack, cross-functional contributor - partnering closely with back-end engineers, QA, and product teams, and progressively taking on Node.js-based back-end development, API design, and end-to-end feature ownership.

Responsibilities

    Develop and implement user interfaces using React.js and Next.js, ensuring a highly responsive and visually appealing user experience.

  • Collaborate with product owners and UX/UI designers to understand user requirements and contribute to the product roadmap.

  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on the feasibility and usability of designs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including back-end developers, QA, and product managers, to implement and iterate on features end-to-end.

  • Build reusable UI components in Storybook.

  • Implement responsive design principles to ensure a consistent and enjoyable user experience across various devices and screen sizes.

  • Optimize front-end components for performance, speed, and cross-browser compatibility to deliver a fast and smooth user experience.

  • Develop ADA-compliant web applications and stay current on Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG); conduct regular accessibility audits.
  • Embrace Agile methodologies to deliver software in short, iterative cycles, ensuring continuous feedback and improvement.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Progressively take on back-end development responsibilities using Node.js, contributing to API design, data models, and server-side logic as skills grow.

  • Partner with back-end and DevOps engineers to understand system architecture, gradually expanding ownership across the full stack.

  • Integrate with E-commerce platforms and payment gateways to enable smooth and secure transactions.

  • Implement product catalog displays, shopping carts, and checkout processes to enhance the overall E-commerce experience.

  • Write and execute unit and integration tests to ensure the reliability and robustness of components across the stack.

  • Conduct thorough testing of E-commerce functionalities, including order processing.

  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes as full-stack responsibilities increase.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in front-end, back-end, and E-commerce development.

  • Design, build, and iterate on AI-powered agents for both internal tooling and external/customer-facing experiences, leveraging LLMs and related AI frameworks.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience developing responsive, production-grade web applications using React.js (experience with Next.js a plus).

  • Deep knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript.

  • Working knowledge of, or strong interest and willingness to develop, back-end technologies such as Node.js and RESTful/GraphQL APIs, with the expectation to grow into full-stack, cross-functional work over time.

  • Good understanding of ADA requirements and implementation.

  • Experience with software versioning and release management using code versioning tools (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to interpret complex business requirements and translate them into reusable, well-architected code across the stack.

  • Strong ability to exercise independent judgment, effectively prioritize, and execute tasks while under pressure.

  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Strong eagerness to learn and stay current with emerging AI technologies, including building AI-powered agents and integrating LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic Claude) into applications.

  • Willingness to continuously learn and adopt AI coding assistants and other AI productivity tools, staying up to date with the latest advancements to streamline workflows and complete tasks more effectively.
