Job description

We are seeking a motivated Jr. Software Developer to join the Engineering Solutions team at The PACCAR Technical Center. This role will support the development and maintenance of robust software solutions that advance our engineering and validation efforts. The successful candidate will collaborate with experienced engineers to write code, fix bugs, develop unit tests, and build interactive Tableau dashboards that transform data into actionable insights. This role involves partnering with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, translate business needs into functional features, and create clear technical documentation to support knowledge transfer and end-user training. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Implement features, resolve defects, and develop unit tests to deliver reliable, well-tested code.
  • Contribute to pull requests, participate in code reviews, and support Agile sprint goals
  • Build and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards
  • Support collaboration with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate business needs into functional solutions and features
  • Create and maintain documentation to support knowledge transfer, maintenance, and end-user training
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, ensuring quality, performance, and adherence to project timelines

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field.
  • Proficiency in Python programming, including experience with relevant libraries for data analysis and automation (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, PyTorch)
  • Knowledge of SQL for data extraction and data analysis
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git/SVN
  • Excellent analytical and debugging skills with strong attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
  • Availability to work on-site, travel up to 10%, including international travel
  • Knowledge of API development and integration, including designing, consuming, and testing RESTful web services, handling JSON/XML data

Required Qualifications

  • Experience or coursework related to the automotive, heavy-duty vehicle, or powertrain industry (engines, transmissions, drivetrains, emissions, etc.)
  • Familiarity with vehicle data acquisition systems and CAN bus data
  • Experience working with large datasets and statistical analysis
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
  • Amazon Web Services/Azure/Snowflake experience
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, C#, and ASP.NET
  • Experience developing machine learning systems
